Heron Island Location
Covering 18 Hectares, Heron Island lies on the Tropic of
Capricorn (23 degrees south of the equator), 72 kilometres NE
off the coast from Gladstone, central Queensland. 534 kilometres
north of Brisbane. 1,183 kilometres south of Cairns. Heron
Island operates 1 hour ahead of Eastern Standard Time (EST) all
year round. |

| Getting to
Gladstone |

Flights are available from all Australian
capital cities to Gladstone with Qantas/Qantaslink. You
are usually better off booking your flights online yourself as
Qantas usually have
internet only fares that are lower than travel agents have access
to.
We are more than happy to just book your accommodation and
transfers. Just make sure that
your flight arrival and departures to Gladstone suit the catamaran
transfer times below if you did wish to take the catamaran. |

Getting to Heron Island
from Gladstone
From Gladstone, you have have
a choice of either the high speed Catamaran or Helicopter
Coach/Launch
Heron Spirit is an air conditioned vessel with plasma
screens showing reef videos, bar and free tea/coffee. Travel time is
two hours (subject to tides and weather conditions). Guests arriving
by car can leave their vehicle in the open car park or rent
undercover security parking. Guests arriving via Gladstone Airport
will be transferred to Gladstone Marina (free service). The coach
departs Gladstone Airport at 1030 hours on the forward journey and
arrives at Gladstone Airport at 1600 hours on the return journey.
The earliest connecting flight departs Gladstone at 1620.
Departs Gladstone 11.00am Arrives Heron 1.30pm approx.
(Flight must arrive in Gladstone by 10.00am)
Departs Heron island 1.45pm Arrives Gladstone 3.45pm.
(Flight must not depart Gladstone before 4.30pm.)

Helicopter
Helicopter transfers connect with domestic airport arrivals
to approximately 1500 hours June, July and August and 1600 hours
other times. Travel time is approximately 30 minutes. All guests
must confirm helicopter transfers the day prior by telephoning 07
4978 1177. One suitcase per passenger - maximum 15 kilograms is
permitted, soft luggage is preferred. Lock up facilities are
available at Gladstone free of charge for excess luggage.

Car lock up facilities at
Gladstone Marina
Security car lock up
facilities are available at Gladstone Marina. This may be
pre-booked by ringing 07 4972 7283 (Gladstone Marina Bait &
Tackle) or on arrival please see P&O Marine staff at the
Marina. The cost is approximately $9.00 per night or $45.00
per week for covered parking, and $7.00 per night or $35.00
per week for uncovered. Prices are valid as at 26/11/02 and
are subject to change without notice.

On Heron Island Resort, casual resorts wear for daytime and smart casual for after
6.00pm is recommended. Also include suitable footwear for beach and island
walks. Depending on the season you may need warm clothes for the
